Le mwbqValerianacee (mwbgValerianaceae mwbwmwcaBatsch) sono una mwcqfamiglia di piante dell'mwcgordine mwcwDipsacales.

Riconosciuta dalla classificazione tradizionale (mwdqSistema Cronquist, 1981cite-ref-1[1]), la famiglia non è più ritenuta valida dalla mwegclassificazione APG IV (2016) che la include tra le mwewCaprifoliaceecite-ref-apgiv-2-0[2].

La famiglia ha avuto origine circa 60 milioni di anni fa.

Descrizione

La famiglia comprende erbe con mwhgfoglie opposte. I mwhwfiori, piccoli e riuniti in infiorescenze, possiedono corolla simpetala regolare o quasi regolare e possiedono un ovario infero. Si tratta dell'unico caso di fiore mancante di mwiasimmetria.
